Berlin MINT Talents 2025: Prizes for committed students and teachers!

On November 11, 2025, there will be an important event on the education agenda in Berlin: the award ceremony to honor students and teachers who have particularly distinguished themselves in the MINT subjects (mathematics, computer science, natural sciences and technology). Christina Henke, the State Secretary for Education, will present the awards at the festive “Berlin MINT Talents 2025” event. This will take place on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the ballroom of the Red Town Hall, as berlin.de reports.

A total of 65 students from 21 Berlin schools will be honored for their outstanding achievements in MINT competitions. In addition, two teachers receive an award for their special commitment to MINT promotion. Not only competition winners are honored, but also students who have received a MINT-EC certificate, which is awarded for excellent achievements in MINT subjects and participation in MINT offerings. The award is aimed particularly at those who have won prizes at state level in MINT competitions recommended by the KMK, adds junior1stein.de.

An important commitment

The event is organized by the Senate Department for Education, Youth and Family and MINT-EC e.V., an association that honors schools in the MINT sector nationwide and provides MINT-oriented offers. This award represents an important element of MINT funding and is supported by Nordostchemie, the Chemical Industry Association.

STEM education plays a central role in current global challenges, such as the energy transition and digital transformation. Initiatives such as the MINT action plan of the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) aim to promote MINT education across all levels of education. bildung-forschung.digital emphasizes that MINT skills are crucial to promote educational opportunities, social participation and economic performance.

MINT clusters and their influence

A groundbreaking element of this support are the regional MINT clusters, which network actors from education, science, business and civil society. These clusters offer low-threshold, everyday educational opportunities for children and young people. Their task is to promote interest in MINT, especially in disadvantaged groups such as girls and young people in risky situations. So far, 73 clusters have been set up, offering learning opportunities tailored to local needs, such as maker spaces and research workshops.

The “Berlin MINT Talents” event is an excellent example of how such initiatives bear fruit. Students have the opportunity to be recognized for their achievements in a celebratory setting, which not only strengthens their motivation, but also raises awareness of the importance of STEM education in our society.
