Berlin enthusiastic: Ten million euros for start-up project Unite!
The Press and Information Office of Berlin announced today that the Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs and Energy will promote the Berlin project unite with a total of ten million euros. This financial support takes place over a period of five years as part of the "Exist-Leuchtturm competition startup factories" , which is part of the "Exist-business start-ups from science". The ruling mayor of Berlin, Kai Wegner , described the Unite project as a "milestone for Berlin" and a starting shot for a new era of start -up from science and research. He emphasizes that Berlin now has the necessary instruments to set new standards as the startup capital of Europe .
objective of unite
The Unite project aims to create a comprehensive ecosystem in which entrepreneurship at universities becomes the rule. This is to create a leading center for innovation and startups in the Berlin-Brandenburg region. Every year, the initiators plan to train 50,000 new talents from universities and research institutions in an entrepreneurial direction every year. These ambitions are part of the broader efforts, which are supported by the Exist-Förderrogram of the BMWK.
The Exist funding program, which has existed since 1998, aims to strengthen the founding culture at German universities and research institutions. The diversity of the funding lines, including the Exist start-up scholarship and the exist research transfer, helps to develop innovative, technology-oriented products. According to the ministry, over 3,600 founding projects have received financial support with more than 840 million euros since 2007.

On the same day of the announcement, the award ceremony was also carried out to the ten excellent Exist Startup Factories in Berlin. Katherina Reiche, Federal Minister of Economic Affairs and Energy, praised the award winners, who were characterized by their different concepts. It emphasized the importance of close cooperation between science, research, private sector, start-up ecosystem and investors. These factories should not only scale innovations, but also manage them privately and thus make a significant contribution to the German founding landscape.
The integration of entrepreneurial thinking into academic circles is of central importance in order to ensure Germany's innovative strength and competitiveness in the future. Wegner assured that a new wave of start -ups from science is expected through Unite, which not only benefits Berlin but all of Germany.
