Construction site in Steglitz: sidewalk widening and new bike bars from August 27th!
In the Berlin district of Steglitz-Zehlendorf, extensive construction work will be carried out at the intersection of Alt Vaterstrasse and Breisgauer Strasse from the end of August 2025. These serve, among other things, to widen the sidewalk extension and to set up additional bike bars to improve the bike infrastructure.
As the Steglitz-Zehlendorf press office announced, the work will begin on August 27, 2025 and should be completed by September 26, 2025 at the latest. During this time, the sidewalk on the construction site side will be completely closed. In addition, a partial closure of the carriageway areas on the northern Alt Vaterstrasse and Breisgauer Strasse is planned.
Temporary traffic disruptions
The temporary measures will result in traffic being redirected to the opposite side of the street. However, access to the S-Bahn station and the Alt Vaterstrasse 2A building remains guaranteed at all times. The proposed wheel bars will be installed both in the area of Alt Vaterstrasse between the station building and the intersection and on Breisgauer Strasse in the direction of Matterhornstrasse.
The RSA 21 standard plans are crucial for ensuring that these construction sites are safe for traffic. They represent standard situations for securing workplaces under traffic law and must be adapted to local conditions and traffic situations. Among other things, certain control plans, such as B I/9 or B II/7, may not be applied without adjustment because they may not contain all of the necessary advance notice or protective measures.
Safety for road users
The targeted application of these modified control plans is not only important for the smooth flow of traffic, but also plays a central role in minimizing risks and ensuring safety for all road users. This ensures that both drivers and employees on construction sites are protected from potential dangers. The RSA21 provides an overview of the necessary security measures and recommends specific adjustments for different construction sites. These plans should not only meet legal requirements, but also help prevent accidents.
Overall, the upcoming expansion on Alt Vaterstrasse/Breisgauer Strasse promises to significantly improve the infrastructure for pedestrians and cyclists in the region and complements ongoing efforts to promote environmentally friendly transportation.
