Appeal of the welcome alliance: More heat aid for refugees in Steglitz-Zehlendorf necessary
More heating help for refugees in Berlin-Steglitz-Zehlendorf
The welcome alliance for refugees in Steglitz-Zehlendorf urgently appeals for more heat aid for refugees. Three of the eight state -owned emergency shelters in the district consist exclusively of metal containers in which temperatures of up to 40 degrees and more were measured. Due to these extremely high temperatures, the rooms are hardly usable during the day and people are looking for cooling outdoors.
In a press release, the alliance warned of the conditions in the accommodations. Günther Schulze, spokesman for the welcome alliance, emphasized the urgent need for cooling options for the residents in a phone call with the Tagesspiegel. A total of 837 people live in the three metal accommodations in Hohentwielsteig, East Prussendamm and Finckensteinallee.
The welcome alliance made an appeal to the health senator Ina Czyborra (SPD) to ensure increased heat help for refugee people in Berlin. In particular in the emergency accommodation in which the majority of refugees are accommodated, quick and effective help is urgently required.
To enable people to cool off, fans and parasols are needed. The welcome alliance therefore asks for donations in kind in the form of these aids. Günther Schulze emphasizes that the support is highly awaited.

It is important that in this hot season it is also thought of the refugees in Berlin and that suitable measures are taken to give them relief. Sufficient heat help is urgently needed to improve your living conditions in the emergency accommodation and give you the opportunity to endure the extreme temperatures better.
