Customs controls in Frankfurt: Minimum wage violations in focus

A blow against the shadow economy! On October 17, 2024, 88 furious civil servants of the Financial Control undeclared (FKS) of the main customs office Frankfurt (Oder) started the large -scale minimum wage control. This spectacular action was not just a national outcry, but part of one of the most powerful cross -border exams throughout the European Union!

coordinated by the European Labor Authority (ELA) and supported by 21 Member States, the focus was clearly on Germany. The fight was particularly popular with cross -border illegal work. The customs officials had the task of putting the minimum wage law through their paces in the local world of work!

This was how the exam was!

During the intensive controls, 249 employees were asked in detail about their employment relationships and the amount of their income. The customs officers not only looked into the faces of the people, but also carried out seven investigations with employers. The consequences could not be overlooked: 11 criminal proceedings were initiated on site. Several cases now employ the judiciary!

The suspicion is particularly explosive in three cases, which indicates a violation of the minimum wage law. The responsible supervisory authority could uncover much more! The officials know that the data collected by employees are only the beginning. This is followed by profound exams of the exact business compartments, especially wage and financial accounting!
