Defective toilet facilities in ODEG-Zug RE 8 Nord ensure resentment for passengers
This week, passengers of the railway company ODEG had to make do with defective toilet facilities on a train company RE 8 Nord. All three toilets had failed on the route from Wismar to BER Berlin Brandenburg Airport. An ODEG spokeswoman, Dietmute Graf, regretted the circumstances and apologized to the passengers concerned.
The toilet facilities on the train had leaches and were also full. For these reasons, they were temporarily closed. A passenger who then reported to the "Schweriner Volkszeitung" reported an announcement on the train that there would be a stopover in front of Wittenberge for a toilet visit outdoors. The Schweriner said: "Such a train journey wouldn't even have been in the GDR." The ODEG confirmed that there was actually a toilet stop in Karstädt in front of Wittenberge. However, it is still checked whether the announcement was made in this form. The toilet facilities on the train are computer-controlled, disposal is carried out every day and cleaning work is also carried out every night. The ODEG is sensitized to the topic and works on a solution.
The high use of the toilets on the route leads to several reasons. In addition to the current high passenger volume due to the Germany ticket and the vacation time, the hot temperatures also play a role because more is being drunk. The ODEG appeals to passengers to treat the toilets properly to avoid constipation. Dietmute Graf commented: "Sometimes it is incredible what we find in toilets, from lighters from lighters to broken glass, baby diapers to non -resolving wet wipes."
The ODEG was founded in 2002 and, according to its own statements, promotes around 21.9 million passengers per year in the federal states of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Brandenburg, Berlin, Saxony-Anhalt and Saxony. On 15 routes with a total of around 1560 kilometers, 80 vehicles are used, which cover around 18.4 million train kilometers annually.
Overall, ODEG is trying to get the problems under control and to offer passengers a pleasant travel experience. The defective toilet facilities are regrettable and the Odeg apologizes for the inconvenience among passengers.
