Changes in traffic in Adlershof: Construction of the new school starts tomorrow!

Today, on October 5, 2025, the construction of the new community school in Adlershof begins, which was specially designed for 1,400 students. This new building is the first of its kind in Berlin to implement the new pedagogical com party concept. The school will include a three -way primary level, a six -day secondary level I and a four -day secondary level II. It will also offer a sports hall with six indoor parts and associated sports and open spaces. In terms of location, the school is located at the interface between a residential area in the west, the Johannisthal landscape park in the north, a commercial technology park in the east and the highway in the south. Loud Howoge is part of the educational landscape in Johannisthal/Adlershof.

The construction work is expected to be completed by December 2025. During this time there will be an increased traffic volume in the streets of Hermann-Dorner-Allee and Eisenhutstrasse. In order to defuse the traffic situation, two new pedestrian crossing (zebra crossing) will be set up on Hermann-Dorner-Allee: one in the amount of the path "on the octagon" and the other in the amount of the future main access east (house number 91).

Security measures and transport adjustments

In order to increase the way to school, the sidewalk between "on the octagon" and the Hermann-Dorner-Allee / Eisenhutweg / Rudower Chaussee is widened to three meters. Cyclists are led to the road on a bicycle traffic strip to ensure their safety. The measures are supported by programs to improve the pathway, foot traffic promotion and the special program "City and Land" to promote cycling, how berlin.de reported.

The total costs for the structural measures are one million euros, of which 56,000 euros from the federal government, 364,000 euros are borne by the Senate and around 580,000 euros from the district. During the construction period, the Hermann-Dorner-Allee between the intersections with Eisenhutstraße and James-Franck-Straße becomes a one-way street, which can only be accessed from Eisenhutweg. Traffic from the north is diverted via James-Franck-Straße.

Pedestrians cannot use the path "Wilhelm-Hoff-Straße" via Hermann-Dorner-Allee during the construction period, which leads to further restrictions that are signposted accordingly. Cycling also have to avoid or descend the area and push them to get past the construction site safely.

District City Councilor Dr. Claudia Leistner emphasizes the need to create safe ways for students and to focus on promoting a foot and bicycle-friendly environment. The new community school is also expected to enable diverse contacts and cooperation with other educational institutions as well as partners from science and business, which strengthens the education system in the region.
