Thrombosis in view: Enlightenment campaign brings important information to Nuremberg
thrombosis - a secret killer!
On October 13th the time has come again: World thrombosis day! Every year the alarm bells in Germany drop when over 40,000 people lose life because of a pulmonary embolism! Every fourth death worldwide has its roots in secret thrombosis. This silent killer does not stop at stars and politicians!
A shocking loss that frightened many: the talented Berlin actor Pablo Grant, only 26 years old and known from the popular "police call 110", died in February as a result of thrombosis. The sudden death not only shaken the entertainment world, but also illuminates a serious source of danger that is ignored far too often. Santiago Grant, who captivated his television viewers as chief crime commissioner, is unfortunately not an isolated case. The CDU politician Philipp Mißfelder and the popular moderator Stephanie Tücking also died of similar causes.
The urgency of the Enlightenment
After heart attack and stroke, pulmonary embolism represents the third most common cardiovascular disease. It is incredible that many of these tragic deaths could possibly be prevented by timely knowledge and simple prevention measures. "We urgently need to do more to improve the education about thrombosis," emphasizes Prof. Rupert Bauersach's, the scientific director of the thrombosis campaign alliance, on the occasion of the 11th World Thrombosis Day. A call that is as important as important!
In thrombosis, dangerous blood clots are created in arteries or veins, and the consequences can be devastating: heart attacks, strokes and life -threatening pulmonary embolism are just a few of the possible consequences. The knowledge of symptoms and risk factors in the population is still far too low!
large actions for clarification!
To counteract this, the thrombosis campaign alliance has launched exciting reconnaissance actions! On 12. October from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. A big event will take place in the Franken Center in Nuremberg. Here visitors can exchange ideas with experts and find out more about the dangerous blood clots!
An oversized organ model of a vein will be available as a walk -in information source and attract a lot of attention. But that's not all! With a free risk check, visitors can become aware of their personal Situation, and exciting competitions are waiting to reward their participants.
The World Thrombosis Day is not only an event, but also supports an important goal: The World Health Assembly wants to reduce premature deaths by 25 percent by 2025. With this mission, the day of 2014 was launched by the International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis in order to raise awareness of an often overlooked danger.
a strong alliance!
A decisive player in the Enlightenment is the thrombosis campaign alliance, which was founded in 2014 and gathered leading specialist societies, including the German Society for Angiology, the German Society for Phlebology and the German Vascular League. Together they do everything they can to educate the population about the risk of thrombosis and pulmonary embolisms and to strengthen awareness!
