Increasing additional costs: What landlords and tenants 2023 expects

In a violent turning point for all rental ends in Germany, a cost explosion is scheduled!

A terrifying survey shows: Half of the landlords: Inside, plans to drastically increase the additional costs! The greed of the landlords: inside is becoming more and more obvious, and the tenants: inside you have to be careful where you look!

increase in additional payments feared

An alarming majority of two thirds of private landlords: Inside, exactly 69 percent, additional payments will be requested to their tenants in 2023. This means not only an unwelcome surprise for many, but also that the shocking increases on the tenants' wallets could collide down! The vast majority of 53 percent of these landlords: inside will keep their additional claims below 500 euros, while 12 percent even require over 500 euros - that is real fear of tenants!

The delivery period for the operating cost statement ends on December 31, and the complexity of the cost schedule makes the matter even worse. The pressure becomes unbearable! Daniel Hendel from immoscout24 warns: "The funding from the gas and energy price brake must be incorporated into the calculation, and their leak times must also be taken into account- this makes the billing particularly difficult."

The counters run! In 19 percent of the cases, the discount payments for operating costs are increased by over 20 percent. A third will make moderate increases of around 10 percent, but almost half of the landlords: inside, a whopping 47 percent, do not intend to increase their costs - that is the only ray of hope in this gloomy view!

CO² tax hardly ensures renovation incentives

Not only the additional cost calculations bring concern! The newly introduced CO² tax, which is supposedly intended as an incentive to renovate energetic renovation, undresses: only 13 percent of the landlords: inside plan renovation work, and the lion's share, 87 percent, sees no reason to invest! This will be expensive for the tenants: inside who hope for modernized apartments!

But the pendulum also swings for the tenants: inside. Already 22 percent of the tenants: Inside use their right to object to the operating costs statement to reduce their financial burdens. Once again, the tenants show: hold together and fight for their money!

"Private landlords: In the future, the operating costs statement will continue to be created in the future," says Hendel. But the seriousness of the situation is often ignored! Many rent only at the last moment - an evil trap for everyone involved!

The alarming numbers come from an online survey by Immoscout24 between 12 and 18 September 2024, in which over 800 private apartment tenants: inside were interviewed.

Immoscout24 remains the central platform in the German real estate market and fights for clarity - for tenants: Interior and landlord: inside! This explosion of the additional costs could turn the entire tenancy upside down in Germany!
