The news for all bicycle fans in Spandau strikes like a flash: a brand new bicycle repair station opens its gates in Imchenallee! Here cyclists not only have the opportunity to pump up their tires quickly- in the event of a tire or other technical problem, comprehensive tool equipment is waiting to solve the problems on site. In this way, every cyclist can continue even in the event of a mishap without long interruption and make the best of a nice trip.

What does the building council say?
In a conversation, City Councilor Thorsten Schatz clarified: "A suitable location must meet certain conditions. This initially includes that there is a high bike traffic. In addition, an area in the public street country must be available. Excursions are used by bike, underlines the suitability of the selected location on Imchenallee. ” So not only a problem is solved here, but at the same time the quality of life of the cyclists in Spandau is raised to a new level!

Great growth for bicycle repair stations

And that's just the beginning! In 2024 there are a total of 20 bicycle repair stations on the agenda in all districts. This is part of an ambitious plan, which is coordinated by the Senate Department for Mobility, Transport, Climate Protection and the Environment (SenMVKU). This initiative aims to further promote bicycle friendliness in the metropolis and help every cyclist on its way.

Support from the BUND
The promotion of these stations is carried out as part of the exciting project "Construction and operation of an extended environmentally sensitive traffic management system (EuVM), supported by the Federal Ministry of Digital and Transport. This ensures the financing of maintenance and operation of the stations in order to always be able to offer cyclists a reliable point of contact. From 2027, GB Infravelo GmbH will take responsibility for this service and will thus ensure smooth processes.
