Summer holiday reading campaign: 500 new books for creative kids!

This year the libraries in Steglitz-Zehlendorf's summer holiday reading campaign is taking place under the motto “Read, listen, see, win”. This initiative is designed to promote the joy of reading and creativity in children and young people aged 8 to 12. Over 500 new books are available to young readers, including stories from the world of Minecraft, crime novels, comics as well as non-fiction and imaginative works. Participation in this campaign is free, but a valid reading card is required. Participants can take part in the campaign either directly with the library team on site or via the Digiclass app.

Attractive accompanying offers

The summer holiday reading campaign also includes a variety of accompanying events, including club meetings, creative challenges and hands-on activities in the libraries. These offerings are designed to give young people additional incentives to engage with literature and develop their reading skills.

The campaign's closing party will take place on September 22, 2025 and is aimed at children who have read and rated at least three books. The event will include a magic show, buffet and awards ceremony. Working groups and competitions create a festive atmosphere in which the creative achievements of the participants are recognized.

By attending the closing party, children have the opportunity to win various prizes, such as shopping vouchers, skateboards, footballs and books. Stamp books to document the works read are available in the participating libraries.
