Secure installation of photovoltaic systems: Zveh and ZVDH sign groundbreaking agreement
The Central Association of German Electrical and Information Technology Hands (ZVEH) and the Central Association of the German Roofing Handels (ZVDH), together with the Energie Textile Textile Elektro Elektro Elektro Products (BG ETEM) and the professional association of the construction industry (BG BAU), have signed a groundbreaking agreement on the installation of photovoltaic systems on roofs. This agreement is intended to maximize the security when installing photovoltaic systems and in particular protect roofing companies from electrical dangers. The signing took place on March 7, 2024 as part of a live transmission between the Messen Dach + Holz in Stuttgart and Light + Building in Frankfurt.
According to ZVDH President Dirk Bollwerk, this agreement is an important step to maximize the security in the assembly of photovoltaic systems and to protect roofing operations from electrical dangers. ZVEH President Stefan Ehinger adds that this agreement includes the requirements for companies of both associations and develops a procedure for cooperation based on the proven security standard. Working under the direction of electrical engineering people at the roofing companies is now introduced and contractually secured by electrical specialists. At the same time, safety requirements for entering roofs are defined by e-trade companies.
A central requirement of the agreement is the clear regulation for fall protection. E-craftsmen may only work with fall fuses such as work and protective scaffolding on roofs. The sample work instruction, which is part of this agreement, serves as help for the companies. Jörg Botti, General Manager of BG Etem, emphasizes that falling accidents are the main cause of serious injuries to e-craftsmen when installing PV systems.
Furthermore, it was stipulated in the agreement that roofing companies may be able to carry out electrical engineering work on PV systems under certain conditions. PV systems on roofs may only be worked if there are fall protection. The components of this agreement include a sample work instruction for the use of work and protection scaffolding as well as training requirements for electrical engineering persons (EUP) for PV systems. Participation in this advanced training is a prerequisite for electrical engineering work for roofers in the sense of this agreement.
The agreement comes into force on April 1, 2024 and represents a milestone for the safety and quality in the installation of photovoltaic systems. It underlines the joint commitment of the associations and professional associations for the highest standards in the industry
