Renovation of Albrechtstrasse: there is a risk of traffic chaos until November!

On October 23, 2025, comprehensive repair work will begin on Albrechtstrasse in Berlin, which extends between Presselstrasse and Siemensstrasse. How berlin.de reports, the measure became necessary to remedy the poor condition of the road and to ensure traffic safety.

The work is divided into two construction phases. The first section will take place from August 18th to October 5th, 2025 and covers the northern side of the road. The second section will follow from October 6th to November 21st, 2025 and affects the southern side of the road. During the repairs, one side of the road will be closed; However, foot traffic remains unhindered.

Traffic routing and diversions

Traffic routing will be adjusted during the construction period. A one-way system will be introduced for vehicle traffic, leading from Presselstrasse towards Siemensstrasse. In addition, a diversion will be set up for traffic from Siemensstrasse towards Presselstrasse, which leads via Halskestrasse and Steglitzer Damm as well as Bismarckstrasse. Cyclists may also be affected by the changes.

  • Radverkehr von Stindestraße in Richtung Siemensstraße: Nutzung der Einbahnstraße.
  • Radverkehr von Siemensstraße in Richtung Stindestraße: Umleitung über Halskestraße, Liliencronstraße und Stindestraße.

The BVG will also be affected by the measure, but the route from Presselstrasse towards Siemensstrasse will remain intact. The Stindestraße stop will be moved in front of Presselstraße, while the Siemensstraße/Halskestraße stop will be moved to Siemensstraße in the future. Diversions will also be set up for the BVG carriageway from Siemensstrasse towards Presselstrasse, which will take place via Halskestrasse and Steglitzer Damm.

The detailed planning and the associated measures are intended to help improve the road infrastructure in the long term and increase traffic safety. Particularly in a metropolitan area like Berlin, it is important to react to structural defects at an early stage in order to ensure a safe and functioning transport network.
