Robert Geisendörfer Prize 2024: Awards for media with responsibility

A glamorous evening in the sign of the Robert Geisendörfer Prize! On October 8, 2024, the crème de la crème of radio, television and online formats will be honored in Hamburg. This year a total of eight impressive productions prevailed against the competition and make it clear how important media prices are to promote critical and empathetic journalism.

The top -class jury, led by church president Dr. Dr. h. c. Volker Jung, selected the best formats that were produced last year. This honor is not only an award, but encourages media professionals to tell stories that touch and stimulate thought even in difficult times.

Excellent productions

The radio price goes to the moving listening piece "Aschhochmama" by Karen pattern, which illuminates the real challenges in the everyday life of a mother. In addition, the captivating project "Tell me about the) sites of horror" by Florian Bänsch is awarded, which brings out to alive through interviews with Holocaust-surviving stories.

The makers of the documentary drama "I am! Margot Friedländer" and the convincing film "We have a deal" receive recognition on TV. Both works examine decisive social issues that arouse the movements and emotions of the viewers.

But the online world must not be disregarded either! The innovative podcast series "V13-the terrorist attacks in Paris" by Leonhard Koppelmann as well as the Tikok format "Fakecheck" by Annika Fabich and Eva Heiligenetzer show how new media can be used in a significant way to comprehensively present and question important topics.

honor for Peter Kloeppel

A very special moment of the evening is the awarding of the special prize to the rousing TV journalist Peter Kloeppel. For over three decades, he set standards with "RTL Aktuell" and contributed to the fact that the news landscape in Germany remains at a high level. With his ability to convey complex topics in an understandable manner, he has sensitized generations of viewers.

In addition, jury prices in the field of children's media are awarded-an important recognition for the successful podcast format "What is anti-Semitism?" as well as the refreshing "new stories from the pumuckl". Both productions manage to pick up young spectators and to bring them closer to serous content in an exciting way.

The award ceremony is accompanied by the charismatic moderator Julia Westlake, who also enriches the evening with its charisma. With prize money of 5,000 euros for each category and the special price without money, a clear incentive for creative and responsible work is set.
