New network node Wittenau: groundbreaking for future -oriented energy supply
In Berlin, the first groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of a new network node in Wittenau on Holzhauser Straße was set on June 19. From 2031, this network node will secure the power supply for household and commercial customers in Reinickendorf and will be equipped with the latest, climate-friendly switchgear technology. The new network node will be created as a replacement for an old work on the same property. The Wittenau network node is part of an investment program to double the network capacity in Berlin over the next ten years. New network node Wittenau: groundbreaking for future -oriented energy supply
in Berlin was set on June 19 for the ground ground for the construction of a new network node in Wittenau on Holzhauser Straße.
The construction pit of the new network node should be ready by the end of 2024, the conclusion of the shell is planned for 2026. The planned commissioning is 2031, whereupon the old system next door is dismantled. The new network node will have 23 switching fields, in contrast to the 11 switching areas of the old system. These switching fields enable the current flow to be stored to different network areas and the connected substation in the north of Berlin.
The construction of the new network node in Wittenau is an important step for the energy transition and heat transition in Reinickendorf. It is an important building block for reliable and climate -friendly energy supply in the region. The project helps to further expand decentralized energy supply and electricity -intensive heat generation and to make the district more climate -friendly.
For the construction of the new network node, around 60 million euros are estimated. The network node is already designed for a further renovation and expansion in the future and supports, among other things, the supply of the new Schumacher district on the former airport site in Tegel. The replacement building is necessary because the previous power node from 1968 comes technically at the end of its lifespan.
For the future of energy supply in Berlin, the new network node Wittenau is therefore an important step to meet the increasing requirements for the power grid and to ensure security of supply in the city.
