35 years of the fall of the Berlin Wall: Scenic reading about the 'duck beak' in the museum
An unforgettable experience is waiting! On November 10, 2024, the 35th anniversary of the Wall, the Museum Reinickendorf organizes a captivating scenic reading on the fascinating story of the "duck snabel". But what exactly is this mysterious "duck beak"? It is a narrow, inhabited country strip that was in West Berlin during the division and sits like a lonely idyll between Hermsdorf and Frohnau.
How exciting and complex life was here is best reproduced by the words of Cultural City Councilor Harald Muschner (CDU): "Here people literally lived with the wall as a garden fence." Incredible! This tight neighborhood to the wall shows how thin the line between demarcation and connection is sometimes.
an outlook on yesterday and today
On this special day, which makes the history of German division tangible, the talented actors Florina Limberg and Sebastian Teutsch will accompany the audience through an impressive presentation. With a mix of text excerpts, impressive historical photos, moving audio recordings and documents, they introduce the reality of this time. A truly living picture of everyday life will be created in the "duck beak", where life in the border region was both absurd and habitual.
The best? Participation is completely free! But be careful: a prior registration is required in order not to miss this unique experience. The museum is available for details and information on the phone number (030) 90294-6460 or by email to museum@reinickendorf.berlin.de. An event that will write history - don't miss the chance to be there!
