Reinickendorf launches transparent sports venue portal: Register now!

On October 28, 2025, the transparent sports facility allocation (TSSV) in Reinickendorf will enter the next phase. The district is the first to begin live operations immediately, representing a significant development for the local sporting landscape. This was supported by the Senate Department for the Interior and Sport, which is committed to improving the sports infrastructure in Berlin. The sports clubs in Reinickendorf can now register to use this new digital platform.

A user manual is available to the clubs, and a local data protection concept has already been created and published. In the first test phase, which was largely positive, applications and their processing were only simulated. Some clubs criticized the extent of the information required, although this is necessary to improve the traceability of the award. The required information is part of the Berlin-wide effort to increase transparency in the allocation of sports facilities.

Digital sports venue portal for Berlin

In parallel to the TSSV initiative, a digital sports facility portal was launched to provide better access to the approximately 4,500 public sports facilities and halls in Berlin. The launch of this online portal aims to simplify the procurement processes for the use of these systems. Users can access information about locations, availability and barrier-free access options. This is supported by a specially developed IT solution, which was implemented in collaboration with the ITDZ Berlin.

The online portal is primarily aimed at sports clubs and expects that in the future they will be able to submit applications for usage times directly via the platform. The pilot operation of this digital solution will begin in selected districts during the 2024/25 indoor season, but applications must still be sent to the awarding authorities by email for the time being.

Goals of digital sports facility allocation

Sports Senator Iris Spranger emphasizes the importance of digitalization and service orientation in club and popular sports. A transparent and efficient system should not only improve the allocation of sports facilities, but also lay the foundation for future sports development in Berlin. The database, which will be gradually updated by districts, will help ensure consistent digital recording of sports venues.

A central aspect of the new system is the occupancy plans, which are expected to be available online from October 1, 2025. This feature is intended to make it easier for sports clubs to find the right facilities for their activities and thus optimize access to public sports facilities. These measures will create the basis for a modern and service-oriented sports infrastructure in the capital.
