Reinickendorf celebrates variety: 5,000 at the first youth festival!

Märkisches Viertel, Berlin, Deutschland - The Reinickendorfer Youth Festival took place on July 21 and 22, 2025 for the first time in the Märkisches Viertel on the Seggeluchbecken. With around 5,000 visitors, the festival became a complete success and celebrated under the motto "Heatwave - the sound against intolerance". It was organized by young people who, with their commitment, set a strong sign of diversity and tolerance. District Mayor Emine Demirbüken-Wegner (CDU) praised the initiative of the volunteers and the festival team.

One of the highlights of the festival was the extensive program with 30 live acts and dance groups that covered various music styles. Artists from Berlin and other cities, including Iboza, Global Origins, DJ Silas, NJR and Nelson, performed. In addition, the youth promotion supports offered numerous activities that made the festival an experience for all age groups.

commitment to democracy

The youth festival also aimed to make democracy too tangible for young people. In this context, participation formats, discussion groups and hands -on activities were offered. The “Marketplatz der Diversity” was a room for clubs, organizations and groups that were able to provide creative promotions and interactive offers. The moderation of the program took over Rico Montero (Heartbeat Edutainment) and committed young people who also launched an ideas competition.

A special moment was the participation of young people in a demonstration against cuts in child and youth work. Youth Councilor Alexander Ewers (SPD) has been supporting the festival since the beginning and was enthusiastic about the positive response from the neighborhood. This support is also reflected in the cooperation with the street and green space office and the Gesobau.

diversity and tolerance in society

Initiatives such as the Reinickendorfer Youth Festival are part of a larger social trend that promotes diversity, tolerance and democracy. This is not only visible in Berlin, but also in other cities, such as in Fulda, where school classes and youth groups took part in a poster competition that focused on these topics. Around 100 young people dealt with the good cooperation and the reduction of prejudices.

In the competition, great posters were submitted, which are shown at various locations in Fulda, including the Rosengarten and Magdeburger Straße. Mayor Dag Wehner praised the commitment of the young people and emphasized the importance of such projects for the social climate.

The Instagram channel @Heatwave_festival also offers impressions and scenes of the festival that reflect the living atmosphere and the strong participation of the youthful.
