Cleaning survey started: Berlin asks the citizens!

Neukölln, Deutschland - The city of Berlin tackles new efforts to improve cleanliness in its neighborhoods. On June 16, 2025, a comprehensive online survey on cleanliness started, which was designed by the monitoring office, the Office for Statistics Berlin Brandenburg and the coordinating point of the city. Until July 31, 2025, citizens have the opportunity to contribute their opinions and experiences. The survey is not only designed for resident, but is also aimed at tourists: inside, day guests and commuters in Berlin. In order to ensure representative participation, recruitment takes place via a random sample from the Berlin residents' register. The minimum age for participation is 16 years. In addition, the questions are available in several languages, including German, English, Turkish, Arabic and Russian. The survey takes about 10 minutes and participants can take a raffle for Berlin specific prices, such as tickets from sports clubs or exclusive tours.

garbage summit 2.0: A forum for solutions

In the middle of April to July 2025,

parallel to the online survey there is another survey on the garbage situation, which is aimed at resident, traders and interested parties. These results will be incorporated into the upcoming event, the rubber summit 2.0, which is planned for November 2025 in the park district. The focus of the summit is on the development of concrete solutions for a clean and livable environment, based on the model of the garbage summit, which took place in November 2024 in the Soldiner Kiez, so my.berlin.de.

The overarching goal of the garbage summit 2.0 is to set new impulses for sustainable city soiling in the Mitte district. The active integration of the population and local companies should ensure that all voices are heard and the measures developed actually also serve to improve cleanliness in the districts.

Basis for new measures for urban attractions

In order to capture the experiences of the Berliners and their guests to the urban sovereignty, the surveys are also part of a larger strategy that aims to improve cleanliness in the city. This initiative is part of the target agreements to increase cleanliness and order in Berlin. The surveys, which are also carried out by berlin.de, enable participation and other interested parties to have an impact on the future design of the cleaning measures.

By the targeted collection of opinions and the upcoming events, the city authorities would like to ensure that cleanliness in Berlin remains an ongoing topic and that all citizens can actively participate in its improvement.
