New swimming offer for seniors in Spandau: fun and safety!

On Saturday, August 2nd, 2025, a new exercise offer for seniors will start in Spandau. Under the motto: “You are 60+, but your passion for swimming is far from being retired?” The Spandau District Office, the Social and Citizen Services Department and the Spandau Water Rescue have launched an initiative aimed at safe swimming and fitness outdoors.
The focus is on improving exercise and strengthening social contacts. The experienced lifeguards from Wasserwacht Spandau will guide the participants to ensure safety in the water.

The specific benefits of outdoor exercise are far-reaching. They not only promote the cardiovascular system, but also the muscles and immune system of the participants. To take part in this offer, those interested should have good swimming ability. The event will take place at the Kleine Badewiese Gatow, Alt Gatow 63, 14089 Berlin, at 10:00 a.m.

More exercise experiences for seniors

In addition to the planned swimming activities, AquaFit courses are also offered, which are designed as a joint-friendly fitness method for older people. These classes combine strength and endurance exercises in the water and are suitable for all fitness levels. A special course called AquaFitSenior+ was developed to specifically promote the mobility and strength of people aged 60 and over.
