New senior citizen guide in Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg now available!

Berlin, Deutschland - On July 3, 2025, the Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg district office released the press release No. 208, in which the new senior guide will be presented. This guide is now available in all departments of the district office as well as in libraries and meeting places. It can also be downloaded free of charge from the district's website. The guide is aimed at older citizens and offers comprehensive information on various topics that are important for seniors.

The contents of the advisor are diverse and cover areas such as advice, living, sports and health, queer life, care and disability. In addition, it contains information about the district and senior offers in the district as well as opportunities for voluntary work. A special practical highlight is the overview map of the district, which shows important meeting points for older people.

diverse offers for seniors

In addition to the new guide, the senior advisor offers information on numerous other offers in Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg, which are supported by an active senior representative. The available leisure and meeting places are recorded in the overview map, which can also be found in the guide. Among other things, this includes offers such as the Berlin Senior Week, lifelong learning in museums, galleries and adult education centers as well as advisory services for seniors on various topics.

The senior citizen advisor also addresses integration and migration in society, offers help for people with disabilities and provides information about tenant advice as well as social aid and citizen offices. The LSBTI offers and meeting points are particularly emphasized for the needs of this community. The Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg district office realized the guide in cooperation with the Aperçu Verlagsgesellschaft mbH to ensure that all relevant information is compiled.

digitization in old age

In times of increasing digitization, it is becoming increasingly important for older people to be able to navigate in the digital world. The Berlin senior network, which was initiated five years ago, supports seniors with analog and digital offers. The platform available online, which was further developed in 2024, offers a variety of activities and information with the motto: "Just be there!"

The platform includes numerous free joint activities, a card for searching for offers near the place of residence, as well as a calendar for weekly planning. Digital learning options for promoting digital skills are also part of the offer. The barrier -free website is particularly valuable, which is available in understandable language and several languages (including German, English, Russian, Turkish and Arabic).

The Berlin senior network has been part of the Berlin digitization strategy “Together Digital: Berlin” since the end of 2023 and is funded by the State of Berlin. It not only offers information about participation and age in Berlin, but also a platform on which facilities and seniors can directly suggest entries that are published after the editorial examination.
