BVG tariff dispute escalated: permanent strike threatens from April!

Berlin, Deutschland - The collective bargaining for the employees of the Berlin Verkehrsbetriebe (BVG) recently failed. Verdi negotiation leader Jaremy Arndt informed the rbb about the result of the discussions that have been held for around 16,000 employees since mid-January. The BVG announced a further negotiation date for April 10, while the Verdi union is preparing a pre -vote on an indefinite merging strike.

The talks have already led to four warning strikes in the past, most recently on Wednesday and Thursday. An indefinite strike could begin in April at the earliest, since an end -of -vote is required in which at least 75 percent of the participating members have to agree. The BVG, on the other hand, criticizes the union for its high salary claims of 750 euros per month and calls for a movement of Verdi, which has so far hardly been deprived of its maximum claims, such as the Berliner Zeitung reported.

claims and offers

Verdi, in addition to a increase in a content of 750 euros per month, also requires a 13th monthly salary as well as allowances for driving service and shift work. The BVG then made an offer that provides for a gradual salary increase of 375 euros over 24 months. The BVG recognizes the need to catch up, but considers the union's claims to be uniform. These differences could lead to a standstill in Berlin if a strike is actually implemented.

In the meantime,

General collective bargaining in the public service, which have also failed. Over 2.5 million people are affected here, including employees in local transport, such as the Tagesschau . The public service calls for a tariff increase of 8% or at least 350 euros more per month and three additional free days, while the employer side has recently offered an increase of the fee by 5.5%.

The view of other warning strikes in Berlin remains if there is no progress before the end of the vote. In addition, arbitration could be sought, but this requires the consent of both sides.
