District Mayor Remlinger is looking for a new location for peace statue

On September 25, 2024, the district mayor of Mitte, Stefanie Remlinger, shared crucial news about the fateful work of art that is currently on Bremer Strasse. But stop! This statue not only has a symbolic value, it faces a real legal challenge!

The Statue of Peace is currently only approved as a temporary art and memorial object- a fact that is particularly important in this unique monument to historical importance. The Mitte district office is passionate about finding a permanent solution. The key? A new location on privately accessible soil.

On September 24th there was an exciting, two-hour meeting with the Korean Association e.V. The aim was to find a double compromise that meets both the legal requirements and the wishes of the association. But the answer from this important session was sobering: The Korea-Verband e.V. was adamant and refused to negotiate!

This setback now leads to an inevitable legal decision. The district mayor must now transmit the official disposal order to the Korea-Verband e.V., which sets the association a period of four weeks to reduce the statue. But that's not the end of the story!

The district mayor remains optimistic and sees chances of a solution. In this critical phase, she wants to further promote the promising negotiations with property owners and hope that the Korean Association is still ready to agree to an alternative location. Can it be done? The next few weeks will be decisive!
