On Monday, July 8, 2024, district mayor Nadja Zivkovic cordially invites you to this year's flag rating of the Mayors for Peace in front of the Marzahn-Hellersdorf town hall in Berlin. The event should set a clear sign against wars and for a peaceful world without nuclear weapons.
The rating of the Mayors for Peace is part of a global movement that is committed to disarmament of nuclear weapons. Despite a reduction in the global inventory of nuclear warheads to around 12,121, the number of explosive heads kept at a high alarm will increase to around 2,100. In addition, the modernization of arsenals is continued in nuclear states. Against this worrying background, the flag ratio should set an example for disarmament and peace.
The district mayor of Marzahn-Hellersdorf, Nadja Zivkovic, will hold a greeting during the event. The Mayors for Peace flag is then symbolically hoisted. Interested parties can have themselves accredited by e-mail or by phone until July 8, 2024.
The Alice Salomon Platz, on which the town hall Marzahn-Hellersdorf is located, is of historical importance. Namer Alice Salomon was a German social reformer and pioneer of social work. She founded the first academy for social women's professions and was committed to equal rights for women.
