First joint integration and queer price in Lichtenberg awarded
A bright evening in Lichtenberg! On 9. October 2024 The first important winners of the integration award and the Queer Prize were chosen in the Kulturhaus Karlshorst-a very special event that made the community shine in a colorful light!
Emil Gililov proudly accepted the integration price with his team at the popular restaurant "Tomorrow will be better", which fights for the exchange between cultures and faiths in Hagenstrasse. Morgan Woinzeck, the inspiring management of the Kieztreff "Undine", also received the third Queer Prize Lichtenberg-and for good reason!
The price of commitment and solidarity
District Mayor Martin Schaefer (CDU) left no doubt: "I am happy about the decisions of the two juries!". His enthusiasm is underpinned by the impressive work of the award winners. They impressively demonstrate how important solidarity and visibility of the migrant and queer communities in Lichtenberg are. Your close cooperation at events such as the multi -fold festival on Freaaplatz show that you not only talk, but also act!
The team of "Tomorrow will be better" has set itself the task of beating bridges between different cultures and not only sees itself as a meeting point, but also as a place for intensive exchange - especially between the small Jewish community and other cultures. An absolute highlight is the annual street festival at the end of August, which celebrates the diversity of the district!
variety and creative offers in the neighborhood
Morgan Woinzeck is the driving force behind the colorful offer in the Kieztreff "Undine". From trans*friendly networking events to the Berlin regulars' table for parents of trans*children to significant events such as the funeral march for the Day of Remembrance 2023-it ensures that the queer community in Lichtenberg remains alive and visible!
And there will continue to be these two important prices! Suggestions can now be made up to 31. July 2025 can be submitted to the Lichtenberg district office. It is time to look at the people who enrich our community!
