In March 2024, the Lichtenberg district office started an initiative to address people in the district regions of Alt-Hohenschönhausen North and South, which have become or will be 70 years old. This initiative provides for senior citizens to offer the possibility of a free information discussion. The letter from the district office provides information about practical information on the home visit and the contact person in the Lichtenberg district office and the Maltese relief service.

District Councilor Dr. Catrin Gocksch emphasizes the importance of these home visits for older citizens. She sees this as a way to pass on information, create closeness and combat loneliness. The project of Berlin's home visits has existed in Lichtenberg for two years and is financed and coordinated by the Senate Department for Health, Care and Equality. It has proven to be successful and is now continued in the Alt-Hohenschönhausen North and South districts.

The senior citizens have the opportunity to agree on discussion appointments with pilots of the Maltese Hilfsdienst. You can learn more about age -specific offers in the district, volunteer work, sports offers, meeting places and nursing support points. The conversations are intended to serve to answer questions and to offer support for problems or concerns. The overarching goal of the project is to overcome loneliness, combine people and give older people the opportunity to make their everyday life more active.

In recent years, it has been shown that such projects can have a positive impact on the quality of life of older people. They offer an important point of contact and support in everyday life. It is encouraging to see that the city of Berlin and the district offices are committed to the well -being and support of older citizens. The further development and expansion of such projects are therefore of great importance for the community and social interaction in the districts.
