Climate week in Steglitz-Zehlendorf: Together for a green future!
The Steglitz-Zehlendorf district's climate week took place this year from September 15th to 20th, 2025 and offered over 30 events aimed at climate protection and sustainability. District Mayor Maren Schellenberg opened the week and highlighted the commitment of the participants and local initiatives. The aim of the events was to inform citizens and promote exchange in order to provide suggestions for a sustainable everyday life. The program spanned various event formats, including workshops, lectures, walks, bike tours and creative activities for children. Particularly noteworthy are the topic areas that Climate Week covered. These included:
- Ernährung: „Klimafreundlich essen“ und ein ökologischer Wochenmarkt mit regionalem Gemüse und Unverpackt-Produkten.
- Diese Aktivitäten: Fahrradkino mit Kinderkurzfilmen, Vorträge zu Photovoltaik und Informationsstände zu Wärmethemen.
- Bildung: Ein runder Gartentisch zu Schul- und Kitagärten und Spaziergänge im Botanischen Garten.
- Natur: Führungen durch die Lichterfelder Weidelandschaft und das Schutzgebiet Rehwiese/Nikolassee.
- Zero Waste: Upcycling-Basteln mit Kindern, Clean-Up-Aktion und Nähcafé.
Engagement and visibility of local initiatives
Climate Week is not only an opportunity to impart knowledge, but also to increase the visibility of local initiatives and organizations dedicated to sustainable development. The events were supported by numerous volunteers who were able to contribute their ideas and projects.
