Climate crisis: Experts horrified by new heat records The global temperatures continue to rise and have broken new records this month. In the first days of July, thousands of old temperature records were exceeded. Eliot Jacobson, professor of mathematics and computer science, reports on Twitter that the global average temperature was continuously above 17 degrees Celsius from July 3 to 13. According to Jacobson, this is the highest temperature of the past 100,000 years. Experts are horrified by this development and consider it questionable. Friederike Otto from the Grantham Institute at Imperial College in London notes that this new record is no reason to celebrate. So far, the temperature record was ...

The global temperatures continue to rise and have broken new records this month.

So far, the temperature record was 16.92 degrees Celsius, measured on July 24, 2022. But now a new maximum temperature of 17.01 degrees Celsius was reached on July 3, 2023. This record temperature increased even further and reached a value of 17.233 degrees Celsius on July 6th. The warming by almost a quarter degrees within three days is considered impossible by some people. However, both Jacobson and the climate researcher Leon Simons confirm the data collected and describe the situation as unprecedented.

The climate crisis is a serious threat to our planet. The rising temperatures lead to extreme weather conditions such as heat waves and droughts. These in turn have serious effects on the environment and people. It is urgently needed to take measures to contain global warming and combat the consequences of climate change.

The heat record of the past few days show that climate change is not a vision of the future, but a reality. It is our responsibility to act now to limit the damage and to maintain a livable environment for future generations. Because the earth has only a limited capacity to deal with the burden that causes our current lifestyle.
