The importance of eye health: a look at the "week of seeing" 2024
From October 8th to 15th, 2024, the “Week of Seeing” takes place all over Germany. Under the motto "Clearly see", the relevance of eye health is particularly drawn to. Leading organizations from the fields of ophthalmic medicine, self -help and development cooperation initiate numerous events to address both the importance of vision and the challenges and the challenges that blind and visually impaired people face.
Gundula Gause, the prominent patron of this initiative, emphasizes that many people often only recognize the importance of seeing when they are lost. She explains: "If the precious good of seeing is threatened or lost, many people are overwhelmed and do not know how to proceed."

Gause points out that despite the possibility of healing, many families in poorer countries simply cannot afford necessary interventions. "Development cooperation plays an important role when it comes to providing financial resources for eye operations and supporting the formation of ophthalmologists," she explains.
The "Week of Seeing" will also be more present on digital platforms this year.
