AI-Reifengrade report: This is how media houses use artificial intelligence in Germany
What about the maturity of artificial intelligence (AI) in German media houses? An exciting survey provides amazing knowledge about the current status! As part of the AI-Reifegegreport, the Retresco experts, together with the Federal Association of Digital Publisher and Newspaper Publishers (BDZV), managing directors, editor-in-chief and other decision-makers in the media industry. The result is a call for action: The future of the editorial team could be revolutionized by AI!
The message is clear: Generative AI has already gained a foothold in the editorial offices of the German media landscape. But despite the success, a large part of the potential remains unused! According to the survey, 85% of the media companies surveyed are already using AI in their daily work. However, only 68% of these houses use the AI for more than a quarter of their text -related tasks. In the video and audio area, the numbers are low- just 18% and 16% of those surveyed rely on AI for the creation of content!
The strategies have to change!
A central knowledge of the report shows that only 40% of the media houses have determined a special person responsible for AI. This is an alarming signal! In order to advance the implementation of AI, a strategic approach is imperative. The respondents agreed: training courses and clear guidelines must be established in order to eliminate the uncertainties regarding AI and increase acceptance. 61% of the respondents see training in training a decisive means of promoting new technologies!
"The results of the AI-Reifegegreport underline that AI should not only be regarded as a technological supplement, but as a strategic driver for efficiency and creativity," said Holger Kansky, Head of Digital and Marketing at BDZV. The general attitude towards AI-based changes is optimistic: 53% of the employees are positively set to AI-based content creation!
secure competitiveness - how are you?
generative AI is viewed by 79% of those surveyed as the key to future competitiveness. Despite the positive assessment, only 13% of media houses have introduced specific metrics to measure productivity and sales growth by AI. The pressure to act increases: How can media houses exploit the full range of AI and at the same time adapt to legal framework, such as the EU AI Act?
The survey has also shown that 70% of the media have already developed their own AI guidelines-a huge leap compared to the previous year! But the question remains: How quickly can these houses implement the knowledge provided to remain at the top in the content of content?
"The potential are far from exhausted," explains Johannes Sommer, CEO of Retresco.
