Junior.ing: Students from NRW win the state finals in the roller coaster model building

This year's Junior.ing competition, which is organized by the Federal Chamber of Engineering Bingk and the 15 countries of the country engineering, has now taken place in North Rhine-Westphalia. The aim of the competition is to inspire schoolchildren for science and technology. A total of 83 groups of schoolchildren took part and the best seven submissions in the two age categories (up to eighth grade and from the ninth grade) were selected from a jury from all entries.

In the younger age group up to and including the eighth grade, Elisa from the seventh grade of the Helmholtz-Gymnasium in Bielefeld won first place. She was inspired by the Al Wahda Arches in Qatar for her roller coaster model "Sky-Train". In second place, two students in the eighth grade of the Bert Brecht-Gymnasium in Dortmund landed with their model "The Golden Road". Third place went to two students from the fifth grade of the Brackweder Gymnasium in Bielefeld with their “Jungle Roll” model. A student in the sixth grade of the Europagymnasium in Kerpen received a special prize for a special processing idea.

The older students from the ninth grade won three students from the Freiherr-vom-Stein Gymnasium in Oberhausen with their roller coaster model "Wild West Ride". Four students from the Don Bosco Gymnasium in Essen came in second place with their “Ocean Drive” model. A student of the Max Planck Gymnasium in Gelsenkirchen secured third place with the “Lost in the West” model. A special prize of the jury for the youngest competition participants received five students in the second class of the St. Martini School Veert in Geldern.

The winners now have the opportunity to present their models in a personal presentation and to explain their ideas before the jury makes its final judgment.

The Junior.ing competition is one of the largest student competitions in Germany and changes their topics every year to show the versatility of the civil engineering system and to inspire pupils for the engineering profession. North Rhine-Westphalia organized the competition this year under the patronage of the Ministry of School and Education.

historical facts:
-The Junior.ing competition has been organized by the Federal Chamber of Commerce Bingk and the 15 countries of the countries for several years.
-With around 5,000 participants, North Rhine-Westphalia is one of the competition locations in the competition and is one of the most active federal states in relation to participation.
- The competition offers students the opportunity to practically implement their skills in the field of civil engineering and to measure themselves against other school groups.
