Autumn holidays in the museum: Exciting time travel for children in Reinickendorf!
The Reinickendorf Museum offers exciting and interactive activities for children and families during the autumn holidays. From the historic playroom to the Stone Age, young visitors can immerse themselves in different eras and learn a lot about the past. A special highlight is the opportunity to experience the element of fire in the museum garden.
For the little explorers, there is also a children's theater that appeals to families with children. While participation in the workshops is free, a contribution of 3 euros per person is charged for the children's theater. Registration for the events can be made using the contacts provided.
Diverse workshops and theater performances
A central offer is the workshop “Playing with history. Collages from historical game sheets”, which will take place on Sunday, October 19, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The children, aged 8 to 13, are accompanied through a journey through time by the artist Stefanie von Schroeter. The workshop enables participants to explore historical play landscapes such as the Biedermeier Room and to discuss old and new games.
As part of this workshop, children can draw their favorite toys with colored pencils, cut out figures from historical play sheets and create creative collages and stick figures. Registration is required and takes place via the Children's Culture Month website: www.kinderkulturmonat.de.
The children's theater play “The Time Thieves” also awaits little visitors on Thursday, October 23, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. This event is aimed at children ages 4 and up and is presented by performer Nicole Gospodarek. Registrations must be sent to the email address by the event date museum@reinickendorf.berlin.de or by phone at (030) 90294 6460.

In addition to the programs at the Reinickendorf Museum, it is worth taking a look at the many family-friendly offerings at other institutions. The Städel Museum in Frankfurt am Main offers various programs for children and families, including family tours and creative studio courses. These events promote creative development and offer an extensive experience, for which materials are also provided.
The Städel Museum is open on various days, including weekends, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., as well as extended opening hours on Thursdays until 9 p.m. Children under 12 have free entry, while young people under 18 can also enter for free when accompanied by an adult. Early arrival is recommended to comply with safety regulations and possible restrictions.
These initiatives at Museum Reinickendorf and other cultural institutions encourage young people's interest in history and creative pursuits and offer them the opportunity to learn and grow in a friendly and exciting environment.
