Common solutions for the migration crisis: Europe's challenge 2023

emotions up, facts even higher! When it comes to asylum policy in Europe, the numbers are thoughtful. In 2023, the protection seekers made impressive 2337 asylum applications throughout the European Union-that makes almost 4,000 applications per million EU citizens in Germany! But what is really behind these impressive numbers?

The challenge for many municipalities, especially in large cities and metropolitan regions, is huge. They are faced with the mammoth task of accommodating and taking care of hundreds of thousands of refugees, while at the same time looking for about one million people from Ukraine. In Europe as a whole, however, migration and flight could be solved - if you only work together!

The creeping decay of the unit

Unfortunately, reality looks different! Nationalist solutions overturn the discussion, and this does not promote common solutions at the EU level. If CDU boss Friedrich Merz calls for rejections at the limits, this is not only a dangerous trend, but also a direct attack on cooperation and solidarity in Europe.

But that's not all! On Tuesday, EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen announced a new, harder line in deportations, while Poland even plans to suspend asylum law-despite falling figures. The European Union currently does not seem to be able to master migration together. And this development is alarming. We lose control with border fences and national solo courses! Tractor gangs always find a detour to put their victims in danger.

together to the destination

What the EU is now absolutely needed are to distribute asylum seekers! In addition, the states at the external borders, such as Greece and Italy, have to be helped, which are overloaded with the arrival of new protection seekers. This is of the greatest importance and especially in Germany that has already taken up many asylum seekers.

The solution is clear: a common European asylum policy is essential to be up to the challenges of the future. Europe, awake! Not helping alone!
