Volunteer Days 2025: Cooking, saving and discovering nature together!

As part of this year's Berlin Volunteer Days, the Spandau Volunteer Agency is inviting you to a varied program on September 17, 2025. This special initiative, which is part of Civic Engagement Week, aims to bring volunteers together with social organizations, politics and companies and promote mutual understanding. Topics revolve around sustainable nutrition, environmental protection and community action, while the event series takes place daily from September 12th to 21st.

One of the highlights of the program is a wild herb hike that begins at 3 p.m. around the picturesque Spektesee. Led by experienced herbalist Susanna Komischke, participants have the opportunity to discover edible wild plants, learn about their medicinal properties and receive tips on how to use them. Weather-appropriate clothing and small containers for collecting plants are advisable. Registration for this tour is required and can be done via the organizers' website.

Rescuer dinner as a culinary highlight

Following the hike, the rescuer dinner will take place in the Schwedenhaus of the Paul Gerhardt community from 4:30 p.m. At this free event, a climate-friendly meal is prepared using the wild herbs collected and food saved by foodsharing e.V. The focus here is not just on cooking, but also on getting to know each other and exchanging ideas among the participants. Registration is not necessary for this, which makes participation particularly uncomplicated.

The cooperation for this sustainable event is supported by several organizations, including the Spandau Coordination Office for Environmental Education and RESTLOS GLÜCKLICH e.V. The aim is to actively involve participants in environmental protection and to raise awareness of sustainable nutrition. Information about the Berlin Volunteer Days can also be found on the initiative's official website.

Commitment to climate protection

The focus on environmental protection and sustainable practices is particularly relevant in times of increasing environmental problems. Various climate protection projects offer volunteers the opportunity to get actively involved. This includes raising awareness among the population through courses and campaigns, as well as collecting data in scientific projects that are essential for protecting and preserving our ecosystems. This all highlights the important role that volunteers play in promoting a more environmentally conscious society.

The day not only promises to bring valuable insights, but also an opportunity to actively contribute to improving our environment. Further information about registering for the events and the exact process can be found at die-spandauer.de and berlin.de available.

Commitment to climate protection and active participation in these events can not only bring personal satisfaction, but also have a positive impact on the community and the environment.
