Drag summer festival Queens & Flowers” brings color to the Botanical Garden!
On August 23, 2025, the first drag summer festival under the title “Queens & Flowers” will take place in the Berlin Botanical Garden. The event is organized by Place2be.Berlin, an LGBTIQ* tourism and event platform run by SIEGESSÄULE, and promises to be a highlight in Berlin's event calendar.
From 3 p.m. to 10 p.m., visitors can experience a diverse program. Tickets are sold both online and at the Botanical Garden ticket offices. Those interested should note that last entry is at 8 p.m. and there are three entry slots with a limited number of tickets. The organizers expect around 2,000 visitors, as was the case last year.
Colorful program for all age groups
The program for “Queens & Flowers” is tailored to a broad audience. Particularly noteworthy are the drag queen reading hours for children, which are offered together with botanical tours. Guests can also expect exciting DJs, concerts, comedy and two drag shows on the main stage. Participating drag performers include Tessa Testicle, Yvonne Nightstand and Metamorkid*. A live concert by Marcella Rockefeller rounds off the stage program.
The well-known personalities Kaey and Gisela Sommer will moderate the event, while DJ Ixa will provide the musical accompaniment. For your physical well-being, food trucks and an extensive range of drinks are available, including cocktails from the Berlin cult bar Hafen. The botanical garden's greenhouses will also be open until 9:30 p.m., providing an additional attraction for visitors.
Continuation of a successful tradition
The drag summer festival “Queens & Flowers” follows on from a successful event from the previous year, which also took place in the Botanical Garden. This was held on August 31, 2024 and attracted many guests. The event pursues the socio-political goal of setting an example for diversity, acceptance and variety and of honoring drag culture outside of the LGBTIQ* community.
The event is supported in close cooperation with the Steglitz-Zehlendorf Economic Development Agency and the Senate Department for Economics, Energy and Enterprises. Thomas Borsch, director of the Botanical Garden, and district mayor Maren Schellenberg also supported the promotion of this cultural event. Further information is available on the Botanical Garden website and at berlin.de available.
“Queens & Flowers” is not only a feast for the senses, but also an important contribution to the visibility and appreciation of drag culture in Berlin. Visitors can look forward to an unforgettable day full of colors and joy.
