New city marketing project strengthens shopping quarters in Charlottenburg

In December 2024, Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf launched a new city marketing project that focuses on the shopping quarters Breite Straße/Berkaer Straße, Westfälische Strasse and the area around Rüdesheimer Platz. This ambitious project is funded by the European Fund for Regional Development (ERDRE) and pursues the goal of strengthening the economic structures and the club networks in these vital shopping streets. According to berlin.de , the project includes the development of a uniform marketing appearance and includes a comprehensive modernization of existing materials, such as logos and websites. The implementation extends over 34 months and is intended to organize an event to increase the attractiveness of the locations annually.

A central role in this project plays a direct contact person on site that will actively promote dialogue and cooperation between the location initiatives. This measure serves to intensify communication in the networks and to organize regular exchange meetings. District Mayor Kirstin Bauch emphasizes that the club networks should play an important role in the identity of the shopping streets and receive additional support with this targeted city marketing project. Iidenreich GmbH was commissioned to implement it after a Europe -wide tender.

The challenges of city marketing

city marketing is a complex process that must always be understood as a joint task. According to an analysis on Springer it requires a deep understanding of the content and potential as well as a continuous exchange between the partners of the city society. The biggest challenge is to make the city marketing process sustainable and regularly give new impulses. It is crucial that all relevant actors jointly participate in the development and implementation of goals, strategies and concepts in order to shape the orientation framework for urban development. This new project in Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf could be an important step towards a lively and economically stable neighborhood structure.
