A tree is felled in the municipal Goebelplatz today because it can no longer be preserved due to a lack of traffic safety. An experienced tree expert had thoroughly examined the tree (silver maple, tree no. 13) and discovered a strong fungal attack (tinder sponge).

The tinder sponge is a mushroom type that weakens trees by decomposing its wood. According to the specialist, the silver maple on the Goebelplatz was no longer stable enough and had to be felled for safety reasons. The local road and green space office plans to replace the tree in one of the upcoming planting periods.
