Rapid escape in Hohenschönhausen: 17-year-old crashes into stolen Mercedes!
Yesterday morning, a 17-year-old teenager was arrested in Alt-Hohenschönhausen after a banned motor vehicle race. At 11:10 a.m. police officers tried to control a Mercedes with three occupants on Konrad-Wolf-Strasse, but the teenager gave full throttle and escaped. During an overtaking maneuver, he lost control, raced across a cycle lane, crashed into a sidewalk bollard and finally landed in a hedge. The driver and his 15-year-old passenger fled on foot but were caught nearby. The third passenger is still on the run.
When arrested, the driver admitted to being under the influence of drugs and also did not have a driver's license. Police officers discovered drugs, cash in the low four-digit range and another vehicle key on him. It also turned out that the Mercedes had been stolen the evening before. The teenager now has to answer for numerous offenses, including driving without a license and particularly serious theft. He was released after his parents were notified, but further investigations are pending.
