International police cooperation: Great successes against motor vehicle crime!

Investigators from all over Europe gathered in Warsaw from September 2nd to 4th, 2025 for the second operational conference against international vehicle displacement as part of the EU project “ISF LUMEN”. 52 police officers from Poland, the Czech Republic, Austria and Germany presented 21 criminal investigations that focused on combating cross-border vehicle crime. The common approach to working together is becoming increasingly common practice to stop organized crime gangs, particularly from Eastern Europe.

The meeting was organized by the Central Investigation Office of the Polish Police and the Berlin State Criminal Police Office and is under the umbrella of the LKA Baden-Württemberg. Since the project started in January 2023, 105 searches and 49 arrest warrants have been implemented, resulting in prison sentences lasting several years. In 37 joint operations, the investigators processed 503 cases, confiscated over 700,000 euros and seized 120 stolen vehicles. The international cooperation is showing initial successes - and it will be exciting to see what the future investigations bring!
