Due to the current situation, the ruling mayor Kai Wegner (CDU), together with Senator Iris Spranger (SPD), the police leadership and the Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg district, intends to advise on the future of the park. Wegner said that the Berlin parking and green areas must be safe for all people. In order to quickly improve the situation in the Görlitzer Park, a security summit is planned in early September, to which all relevant actors are invited. The Berlin police, fire brigade and the protection of the constitution should have the opportunity to bring in their proposals to strengthen the security authorities and to improve the security situation in Berlin.

In terms of Görlitzer Park, Wegner said that he trusted the security organs and wanted to carefully examine the police's proposals. Here he referred to the statement of Berlin's police officer Barbara Slovik, who had suggested to close the Görlitzer Park in the evening.
