Berlin MINT Talents 2025: Award for teachers and students!

On November 6, 2025, an impressive awards ceremony took place in the Red Town Hall, honoring outstanding achievements in the MINT sector. Christina Henke, the State Secretary for Education, honored two committed teachers and 65 students from 21 Berlin schools for their extraordinary successes in various competitions. The motto of the event was “Berlin MINT Talents 2025” and was organized by the Senate Education Administration in collaboration with MINT-EC e.V.

Mathematics teacher Solveg Schlinske from Annedore Leber Elementary School was particularly honored. She received recognition for her innovative approaches to developing inclusive learning environments promoted through the iMINT Academy. Their initiatives such as “Doing Math Safely”, “QuaMath” and “Matheband” aim to strengthen basic mathematical skills, especially among disadvantaged children.

Honor for innovative teaching methods

The second award went to Carolin Garbe from Dreilinden-Gymnasium. She is involved in her work at the NatLab extracurricular learning space at the Free University of Berlin, where students gain practical insights into the world of natural sciences. She also works in career orientation projects for MINT careers and contributes to the further training of teachers.

In her speech, Christina Henke highlighted the crucial role of MINT subjects in modern society. In her opinion, it is essential to get young people interested in these topics at an early stage in order to promote future talent.

Another highlight of the event was the honoring of the students who earned the MINT-EC certificate with distinction. The award winners represent a variety of schools, and the number of students honored provides an overview of MINT commitments in Berlin:
