help for homeless people

The Berlin city mission has already introduced measures to support homeless people. The Hitzebus is traveling between 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. from Wednesday to Sunday and offers numerous help. This includes sunscreen such as hats, baseball caps and thin jackets as well as simple meals, including sandwiches and fruit. Drinks are also provided. In the event of medical needs, homeless people can be brought to an outpatient clinic or to the hospital on request.

The situation for homeless and homeless people is particularly critical at strong temperatures. They are often exposed to health risks such as lack of fluid, dizziness or even a circulatory breakdown. Symptoms also include sunburn and infections. The healing of open wounds can also make it sweaty. Therefore, targeted measures to protect against heat are urgently required.

measures against the heat

  • Creation of cool rooms, e.g. B. in public buildings, pavilions or with solar sailing.
  • Improvement of the hygiene situation through additional shower and washing facilities.
  • Provision of storage options for winter clothing.
  • Organization of the output of water, sun milk and headgear.
  • Extension of streetworking for early detection of dehydration and heat diseases.

These measures are crucial to help homeless people in Berlin during the upcoming heat wave. The sensitization of the public and the active participation in aid campaigns are also necessary steps to meet the needs of this particularly endangered group.
The city has the responsibility to take suitable protective measures and to offer the data subjects a secure retreat.
