Preparations for the marathon are accompanied by extensive traffic changes and road closures. According to information from Sportschau, various roads in the area around the marathon route have been closed since September 13th. The following roads will be closed on Saturday:

The biggest restrictions begin on Sunday from 5 a.m., when, among other things, the entire marathon route will be closed to traffic. Motorists are asked to use alternative routes, particularly the Tiergarten Tunnel, which will remain open throughout the event.

Safety precautions

Security measures have also been expanded. In certain areas, it is prohibited to carry knives, weapons, blank guns, irritants and signal weapons on September 20th and 21st between 6 a.m. and 5 p.m. rbb24 informs that these measures were taken to protect participants and spectators.

Sponsor commitment

The BMW Berlin Marathon is not only a sporting challenge, but also an example of sustainability and technological innovation. BMW, title sponsor since 2011, also focuses on sustainable transportation and demonstrates this with the new BMW i5, which serves as the lead vehicle. Over 50 vehicles and around 15 C evolution class scooters will be made available for accompanying trips. According to BMW, the company is intensively committed to the running community and supports the athletes in their preparation for the big event with the RUN FOR JOY campaign.

The Marathon Expo, which will take place from September 18th at Messe Berlin, rounds off the program, while closing parties on the marathon weekend will also ensure a festive atmosphere.
