Berlin is expanding parking space management: nine new zones and higher costs for drivers from August
The state of Berlin is expanding its parking space management system and introduces nine other areas in which parking becomes a fee. At the same time, the parking fees in the existing zones are increasing.
From August from August, drivers in new areas will have to solve tickets for the parking of their vehicle. One of these zones includes the interior of the S-Bahn ring, which means that parking there will be more expensive in the future.
Since August 1, two new payment areas have been in charge of Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf: the quarters around Prague Platz and Babelsberger Straße. There are also new parking zones in Tempelhof-Schöneberg: the Bavarian square as well as a fan-shaped area between the Rudolph-Wilde-Park and Innsbrucker Platz are affected.
From October from October, the regulatory office will also check in the vicinity of the St. Joseph Hospital and in the Manfred-von-Rächthofen-Kiez.
Another innovation concerns Neukölln: From November there will be a parking area in the Reuter-Quartier. The Airport/Donau district follows in February 2024 and the Weser-Karree.
in May 2024For the future, further parking zones are planned in Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf, which are to be introduced from 2024. These include Richard-Wagner-Straße, Alt-Lietzow, Schloßstraße and Klausenerplatz. From 2025 the Tegeler, the Kaiserin-Augusta-Allee and the castle garden are also said to be affected.
New zones are also planned in Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg and Pankow. "As soon as possible" the Lausitzer Platz and Reichenberger Straße in Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg as well as the Velodrom and the Blankenstein Park in Pankow should be subject to a fee.
With the introduction of the new zones, the parking fees also increase. Instead of one, two and three euros per hour, drivers will have to pay two, three and four euros per hour in the future.
