Action Day for Human Work: Enlightenment on Working Hours on October 7th

On October 7, 2025, there will be an action day for decent work in Berlin, supported by the district office Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg and the Berlin consulting center for migration and good work (Bema). The aim of the day is to educate employees about correct working hours documentation, especially in the catering industry. Regine Sommerwetter, district councilor for work, civil services and social issues, emphasizes the importance of improving working conditions and emphasizes that it is important to strengthen and socially secured employment relationships. Berlin.de reports that the correct recording of working hours is crucial for the assertion of claims and rights.

On the day of the campaign, advisors of the BEMA and employees of the district, trade union and volunteers will be active in various companies. These visits focus on the areas of cleaning, construction and gastronomy in order to get into conversation with the employees and to clarify them about their labor rights.

The challenges of decent work

A safe job with fair wages and social security should be a matter of course for all employees in Europe. But how Eza determined, the reality often looks different. The International Working Organization (ILO) launched the "Decent Work Agenda" in 1999 to promote human -rectanging working conditions worldwide. This agenda aims to ensure productive work, fair income, security at work and social protection for everyone.

Nevertheless, the number of precarious employment relationships and uncertain working conditions in Europe is increasing. To stand up for a world of work that offers dignity, security and justice is therefore more necessary than ever. The campaign day in Berlin is a step in this direction to draw attention to grievances and to raise awareness of rights at the workplace.

The role of audits in the world of work

Another important aspect for fair working conditions are audits. These are necessary to distinguish between real and beautiful work situations. TÜV Nord emphasizes that manufacturers are dependent on audits in order to be able to produce for large customers. Companies often try to deceive time accounts. Auditators must therefore compare the numbers with the statements of the employees.

Regular training and audits are essential to check compliance with standards. In the case of audits, discrepancies regarding overtime, occupational safety and wages are often found under the subsistence level. With the supply chain law that came into force in Germany in 2023, companies are obliged to examine risks in their supply chains and also become active in indirect suppliers. This is expected to increase the requirements for audits in the coming years.
