420 children's rights bags distributed for first graders in Reinickendorf!
On October 12, 2025, the FAMILIENLOTSINNEN Reinickendorf, together with the children and youth representative Hannah Böse, distributed 420 children's rights bags to first graders in Reinickendorf. This campaign took place around the start of school and is part of a larger commitment to children's rights.
As part of the campaign, Youth City Councilor Alexander Ewers (SPD) took part in the distribution on September 15, 2025 at School am Park, a facility with a focus on special education. Ewers personally handed out bags to 20 first graders and emphasized the importance of the rights of children with disabilities.

Relevance of children's rights
Every child has rights, regardless of their place of origin. These rights are enshrined in the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, which came into force on November 20, 1989. Almost all countries in the world have ratified this convention, which has helped reduce child mortality and ensure that more children go to school today than ever before. Awareness of children's rights is growing worldwide, and UNICEF continues to actively promote their implementation.
An outstanding offer is the UNICEF primary school package “You have rights”, which includes free downloads, design ideas for school lessons, handouts and promotional offers for students. These materials promote understanding and discussion of children's rights in the classroom.
UNICEF children's rights schools
UNICEF also supports schools in integrating the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child into lessons and everyday school life. The children's rights schools program offers, among other things, digital children's rights boxes and print materials. This initiative promotes a holistic school concept in which children learn to recognize their rights and actively advocate for them. Schools that successfully complete the training receive the UNICEF “Children’s Rights School” certificate.
UNICEF children's rights schools have already been established in countries such as Germany, Sweden and the United Kingdom. A pilot phase of the program with selected schools has been running in Germany since 2022. In addition, the international campaign “World’s Largest Lesson” is being carried out to bring sustainable development goals (SDGs) into classrooms in a child-friendly way. The aim of this campaign is to inform children about their rights and to motivate them to realize them. Teaching materials and videos, also in sign language, are available in the download area of UNICEF.
