350 small construction professionals discover their talents in Tegel South!
In the Gewobag district of Tegel Süd, the "Day of Little Construction professionals" took place on Wednesday morning, an event that is supposed to awaken the enthusiasm of young people for the building trade. Around 350 children between the ages of four and eight had the opportunity to try out professional guidance in various manual disciplines. Celebrities such as Malte Bädelt and Markus Terboven from Gewobag, State Secretary Stephan Machulik and district mayor Emine Demirbüken-Wegner also took part in the event.
The event started to hit the wood with the hit of nails and led the children to activities such as walls, carpenters, tiles and control of excavators. Malte Bädelt explained how important this type of event is for the children and praised the support from numerous craft partners. Markus Terboven emphasized that the children's enthusiasm and curiosity were contagious for the craft, while State Secretary Stephan Machulik praised Gewobag's Initiative to bring the children closer to the world of building.
A look back on the tradition
The "Day of Little Building Professions" celebrates its 16th anniversary this year and has already inspired many children in the past. In the previous year, on July 18, 2024, the event took place to discover the world of building trade on the occasion of the 15th anniversary in the Paul Hertz settlement in Charlottenburg, where around 250 children were invited. The activities included carpentry, painting, plasters and exploring sustainable building materials such as clay and dredging under construction professionals.
This annual event is an integral part of the Berlin summer vacation and aims to offer children without a vacation to an exciting, free campaign. At twelve stations operated by Berlin craft businesses, the children were able to try out their skills and ultimately received a certificate of participation as a "small construction professional".
commitment to the future
Gewobag is one of the largest real estate companies in Berlin with over 74,000 apartments and more than 130,000 tenants. The company has set itself the goal of building around 10,000 new apartments by 2030. The promotion of the community and the feeling of neighborhood plays a central role, which is also supported by events such as the "Day of Little Construction professionals". The valuable cooperation with regional construction companies contributed decisively to the success of the event.
The "Day of Little Construction professionals" is therefore not only an unforgettable experience for the participating children, but also an important step towards a strong building future for Berlin.
