Future of mobility: Innovative S-Bahn wagon will start to start!

in Klein Glien, a district of the municipality of Bad Belzig in the Potsdam-Mittelmark district, a restored S-Bahn wagon was opened as an innovative meeting point for founders in the field of rural mobility. The wagon, which is placed on a specially created track bed, not only offers a job, but also a creative environment for discussions and ideas for mobility in rural areas. Surrounded by a wooden terrace with sun sails, the central place of work invites you to develop and exchange new concepts, such as improving digital mobility.

Marie Golüke, one of the initiators, describes the wagon as a central place where innovative ideas for rural mobility can be discussed. The conversion of the wagon included the restoration of the old benches to functional workplaces, which are now equipped with height -adjustable tables, a soundproof telephone cabin and a meeting room with modern projector equipment. The opening of this wagon took place as part of the Smart Village mobility campus, which was launched on May 25, 2025. The campus is located on the grounds of the former good coconate, which is known for creative projects.

Innovative mobility solutions and start -up spirit

The campus attracts a number of founders, including Ruben Lagies, who moved his workshop from Wildenbruch to Klein Glien to build mobile outdoor kitchens for events. Lorna Bauer, on the other hand, restores old horse -drawn carriages for her new carriage and receives valuable support for her foundation. These initiatives are part of a larger plan to improve mobility in the region through digital timetables and carpools.

In addition to the existing initiatives, a Residen program that invites you to apply until December 8, 2024. Four people are sought here who develop solutions for mobility problems in rural areas for one month. The goals are adapted digital approaches to master challenges in mobility and thus create a basis for sustainable mobility. Participants benefit from accommodation as well as workshops and networking events.

The challenges of rural spaces

The measures on the smart village mobility campus are in the context of increasing challenges in rural areas. These often suffer from emigration and a lack of digital infrastructures that reinforce each other. However, there are also positive counter -movements: success stories from villages with refoking initiatives that offer creative solutions draw a picture of change. In these legally disadvantaged regions, innovative approaches are created that combine social, digital and economic aspects.

Examples of digitally supported social initiatives include app-based mobility services and telemedicine. These measures enable flexible working conditions, which are otherwise often only available in urban areas. Creative approaches and projects such as that in Klein Glien create the basis for sustainable development in rural areas. The Research initiative examines these dynamics and the diverse approaches to social innovation in structurally weak Regions.

The Smart Village Mobility Campus not only takes a significant step into the future of rural mobility, but also serves as a catalyst for other creative and innovative projects that are supposed to improve the quality of life on site.
