Virtual hospital stations: innovative care for Hamburg's residents

A revolutionary health project picks up speed! The Asklepios Kliniken Group has secured a whopping millions from the Innovation Fund of the Federal Joint Committee in order to launch unique “virtual hospital stations” nationwide. This vision of the future will not only change the way in which patients are looked after, but could also be a rescue for overloaded hospitals!

in the heart of Hamburg, more precisely in the Asklepios locations Hamburg North and Langen, this innovative concept will take its first steps from the second half of 2025. But what is behind it? Instead of transporting patients directly to the hospital after visiting the emergency room, they are brought back to their care facility! In the future, treatment will take place with the help of telemedicine. This means that every patient remains in his usual and familiar environment, while the experts from the Asklepios clinics are available with advice and action by means of video transmission and constant monitoring of the vital parameters.

a project with foresight

"This future -oriented project is the result of two years of intensive planning," explains Joachim Gemmel, CEO of the Asklepios clinics. The strategy not only provides for patient care improvement, but also a long -term cost reduction in healthcare. Marco Walker, also CEO of the clinics, emphasizes: "Virtual hospital stations are a central part of our value-based health care strategy." This shows how important it is to develop innovative solutions creatively without just waiting for administrative guidelines.

But how successful are such models? The answer could not be clearer! Similar concepts such as "Virtual Wards" in the National Health Service (NHS) in Great Britain or "Hospital at Home" in the USA have proven themselves during the Covid 19 pandemic. The savings in the health system are significant, while the quality of care is at least consistent. And not to forget - the psychological pressure on the already vulnerable care facilities is minimized.

perspectives and partners

The project is settled in cooperation with various health insurance companies such as the AOK Rheinland/Hamburg, the Barmer and others. Support also comes from the technology partner Doccla, who with its platform and know -how from the NHS helps to measure this forward -looking model especially for Germany.

The scientific support for this all -changing project is ensured by the InAV Institute in Berlin. The exciting new form of supply will start in mid -2025 and could turn the entire health sector upside down! Let's get ready for a medical revolution!
