Last neighborhood discussion of the year in the Kosmosviertel: school to relax - fight bullying and violence together.

In November, the third and last neighborhood discussion of the year will take place in the Kosmosviertel. With this open discussion forum, neighbors have the opportunity to exchange ideas on the subject of "school to feel good - we step on bullying and violence together". The event will take place on Tuesday, November 21, 2023, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the elementary school on Pegasuseck.

The Kosmosviertel, in which around 6,000 people live, houses around 500 children aged 5 to 12 years. The primary school on Pegasuseck plays a central role in the everyday life of the students of the district.

In recent years,

have special challenges for both the pupils as well as their parents and school staff. The effects of covid-19 pandemic, such as school closures and restricted contact with friends, as well as the impressive renovation measures at primary school repeatedly led to conflicts. Together, the children, parents and the college of the school and the district want to improve this situation. The first extensive measures were already taken this year, which are to be presented and discussed together.

The funding program "Cleanliness and security in large settlements" of the Senate Department for Urban Development, Building and Living for the first time this year supports projects to strengthen the feeling of security in the Kosmosviertel. A project for violence prevention at the primary school on Pegasuseck offers a wide range of offers for pupils, parents and specialists. The project is coordinated and implemented by the Bildungsverbund Kosmosviertel and the sponsor Fields Institute gGmbH.

The neighborhood interview starts with a presentation of the activities and previous experience of the project. This includes, for example, a film created by schoolchildren, as well as theater and circus workshops and the concrete examination of violence, bullying and sexual assault. Afterwards there are discussions on the topics of bullying, physical violence and sexualized violence in three small groups. The goal is to find ways and to determine measures how the school can continue to feel good in the future.

The neighborhood talks are organized by the social space-oriented planning coordination (SPK) of the district office Treptow-Köpenick in cooperation with the district management Kosmosviertel (Stadtkümmeri GmbH) and the project "Dialog in the Kosmos" (offensive ’91 e.V.). The Berlin State Center for Political Education supports the event as part of the “Dialogue in the Kosmos” project with the federal government. The third neighborhood discussion is carried out in cooperation with the Fields Institute gGmbH, the sponsor of the Bildungsverbund Kosmosviertel.
